Checkride Services — Open to All Students

John Kinard holds FAA DPE designation for rotorcraft — which means he's authorized to conduct the official FAA practical test (checkride) that earns you your certificate. You don't have to be a 30 Seconds Out student to use this service. If you're training at another school anywhere in the region and need a DPE to conduct your private or commercial helicopter checkride, John is available to examine you.

Training under the same examiner who will evaluate you — or simply knowing exactly what a DPE expects — is one of the most significant advantages any helicopter student can have going into a checkride. That insight shapes how we train every student from day one.

Our Story

Built on Service,
Flown with Precision

30 Seconds Out, LLC is a Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (DVOSB) founded by John H. Kinard III — a combat veteran with over 35 years of military and civil aviation experience.

John holds FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) designation for rotorcraft, making him one of a very limited number of civilian examiners authorized to conduct UH-60 type ratings. To date, he has evaluated over 58 applicants at locations across the United States and internationally.

Based at John C. Tune Airport (KJWN) in Nashville and Springfield Airport (KM91) in Springfield, TN, our primary focus is training the next generation of civilian helicopter pilots on the Robinson R22 and R44 — the same fundamentals-first approach that builds elite military aviators.

When disasters strike, 30 Seconds Out answers the call. Our team supported aerial relief operations during Hurricane Helene in Swannanoa, NC — deploying rapidly with a volunteer aviation fleet when communities needed it most.
